EnglishCorsica is a dream for all Kajak-lovers in spring. At a time when there is still winter in Austria you can already smell the summer in Corsica. Mountains, lowlands, rivers, valleys, vineyards, meadows, high plateau, fields and corall riffs – this is Corsica!
Following goals will be tried to achieve:
- material science
- Subjective and objective dangers and how to avoid them
- Evaluation of the level of difficulty
- Revision of the forward stroke
- low paddle praise
- high paddle praise
- Finding and entering eddies in whitewater level 2
- Perfectioning the roll
- Correct evaluation of potential dangerous spots and how to act upon them
- Correct handling of the throwbag
- Knots 101, 201
- How to decide on which kajak to choose for a trip
- Basic knowledge on how to handle a play-boat
Preconditions:
You should have already participated in a beginners course so that the words such as eddy, eddyline, paddle praise, forward stroke and round stroke are already familiar to you. You should have already paddled white water level 2.
You can travel by car and then by ship to Corsica. If you do not want to drive by yourself we are happy to take you with us for a fee of 7 cents per kilometre.
Friday and Saturday are arrival days at Camp Campito in Francardo.
Sunday: 1st Course day – introduction, material check, warm paddling, division into two groups according to your skills
Monday: 2nd Course day – the emphasis is on the correct entering and exiting of eddies
Tuesday: 3rd Course day – how to deal with currents and the correct evaluating of potential dangerous spots
Wednesday: BREAK! – from beach to mountain biking everything is included. Eventually we even use this day to move our camp.
Thursday: 4th Course day – Security-revision (all known ways on how to secure a boat or a person are revised and brought up to date)
Friday: 5th Course day – Introduction into the ‚boof’-technique that provides a less dangerous way to go on solo-ways.
Saturday: 6th Course day – special trip on a special section where we are happy to use all our previously taught techniques.
Each participant will receive a personal feed back on how he/she did and what’s to improve/change.
Sunday and Monday: Departure!
The price includes instructors, lessons, camping equipment as in cooker, group tent, cutlery, dishes, benches, tables and shuttle with our 9-people bus (we may need to support the shuttle with private cars).
Not included are overnight stays and personal camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag etc.), meals as well as arrival and departure.
